When NHRA comes to STL. we go Sunday for finals. They start with top fuel elimination in the AM, then funny cars. Kids loved it.

I haven’t been to a nationals in a few years, but I always loved fridays. I like seeing the sportsman classes more than the pros, but the Top Fuel classes do a round of qualifying under the lights on friday night. It’s not as crowded as sundays either.

I pretty much keep hearing protection (earplugs) in at all times.
If the pits are open and you have passes, stand behind one of the Top Fuelers as they warm up the engine and seat the clutches. But don’t stand there very long.

When I go to the US Nationals in Indy, I usually go on Sunday for the finals. The Big Bud Shootout (funny cars) and Top Fuel are crazy in person. If you prefer something closer to street cars, go on Saturday early, assuming its a similar schedule. Last time I went, I ran into a guy at the gates that had an extra VIP ticket that he sold to me for a discount (IIRC, I paid $50 for a $90 ticket). Given that it only happens once per year, the VIP ticket was very much worth it. The free food and n/a beverages, along with way better seating was amazing. Definitely bring hearing protection, unless you like that ringing sound.
